Using Dropbox

Ever since Apple shitcanned MobileMe, I switched over to Dropbox without hesitation. MobileMe sucked anyways: it was kludgey, slow, and overall rustic. But it did do its job when I was in a pinch. Uploads would frequently break (I’m okay with slow uploads, that’s up to my internet provider, not Apple’s fault) to the point where you’d have to babysit your computer.

Dropbox is the exact opposite. It’s reliable. You get 2 GB free with signup. You can auto upload your mobile photos (if you want that option) like Apple’s Photostream. Share files. It’s a great place to put all of the stuff you want to view later - almost like an Instagram for files.

A little tip: Dropbox will downgrade the resolution on the iPhone app to save you bandwidth. If you really want to download the photo in it’s native resolution, simply sign in with your account via Safari.

It should be noted that Apple offered the folks at Dropbox $10 billion for their company and they refused. Apple’s still lagging behind when it comes to cloud storage and syncing. I’m not sure when they’ll have it done but they need it work like Dropbox.
